Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recover is a unique and special ministry at Christ Centered Church! This group is not just for addicts or alcoholics, it is for anyone who is hurting and dealing with life struggles.

Celebrate Recovery meets every Monday night at 6:00.  We serve a dinner and have fellowship until 6:30. This is followed by Worship time of Prayer, Singing Praises and reading either a 12 Step or 8 Principle with Biblical comparisons in a rotation of every other week. After that there is a lesson or a testimony from the 12 steps and they are very powerful lessons that can be applied to everyday life. We read the full Serenity Prayer and dismiss to small groups where the Men and Woman split up to discuss any Habit Hurt or Hangup. It is not just for addicts and alcohloics it is for anyone who is hurting or dealing with life struggles. Once that time is up we then meet for Coffee and cake to fellowship again.

There are 5 basic rules in the group:

 1] You may not come in to the meeting high or drunk. You will be asked to leave, however we will talk to you when you are clean and sober and you will be accepted at all times if you want to be there.
2] Anonymity is valued and a must at all times in order for people to feel comfortable in sharing.
3] Swear words have no place in a biblical group.
4] We are here to support one another not fix. We are not counselors. What makes us able to be leaders is the fact that WE have 'been there done that' and were ourselves in many groups and classes before we began.
5] Cross talk is not allowed, we include everyone in the group and we don't say things like "you should"

We learn to let go of these problems and let God be our leader in all areas of our lives.

Occasionally we have a special singer come to our group for special music worship time. We have had traveling singers with testimony such as Kelly Condren from Chicago, Dr. Naima Johnston from Nashville, Christopher Ames from New York and Ruby White from Here. We are also blessed with many people from our church who sing for us.

A bit of history:  Mike and Tammy Doyle (the leaders of Celebrate Recovery) came to this church in 2000 looking for a place to be accepted and call home after Mike talked to Tommy about his drug addiction and the fact that he is recovering took Tommy by surprise because Tommy said that he had been praying for a leader for a new group he wanted to start in church for recovery people to be able to come together in support. Mike was lead to Tommy because we started LIFE RECOVERY in 2003 on April 1st (haha) after Mike shared his testimony with all the Deacons and Elders. Mike and I have been there as a team ever since. Even when we had the Ice storm Mike was there in case we were needed, proof of our dedication. One year for Christmas the members of the group got together and bought tickets to a seminar that was coming near and that was Celebrate Recovery. We changed our format from all meet for 1 hour to what we are today. Many people have come and gone from the group, it's the nature of the people but we do have some very strong testimonies from some of our regular members.
